Coinciding with the UAE's 54th Eid Al Etihad celebrations, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has directed that seven mosques in Abu Dhabi be named after the nation's emirates.

Dr Omar Habtoor Al Derei, Chairman of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat said that seven mosques in Abu Dhabi's Mohamed bin Zayed City will be named after the emirates. Spread across approximately 12,000 square metres, the mosques can accommodate about 6,000 worshippers and will be open to the public in January 2026.

The mosques will boast a stellar architecture that seamlessly brings together Islamic arts, heritage, and innovative modern design. Al Derei praised the UAE President's initiative to build mosques, thereby enabling the public to offer their prayers in a peaceful and fulfilling manner.
