The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has announced a series of updates to the UAE’s entry visa regulations, including the launch of new visa categories and the introduction of additional residence permits.
Four new visit visa categories have been created for specialists in artificial intelligence, entertainment, events and cruise ships and leisure boats. These aim to attract talent and expertise to key sectors while supporting the UAE’s growing industries.
The amendments also include a humanitarian residence permit valid for one year, renewable upon approval, as well as a one-year residence permit for widows and divorcees, which can also be extended under defined conditions.
Family-related provisions have been expanded through a visit visa that allows sponsorship of a friend or relative up to the third degree, depending on the sponsor’s income.
For entrepreneurs, a business exploration visa now requires proof of financial solvency, shareholding in a company abroad, or verified professional practice. A truck driver visa has also been added, subject to sponsorship, health and financial guarantees.
The ICP has issued clear schedules outlining the authorised duration of stay for each visa type, along with extension rules, ensuring transparency and ease of application. For more information, visit ICP's website.
