In August this year, Emirates Airline had updated its rules for carrying power banks, which will take effect on Wednesday, 1 October. This will tighten restrictions for passengers and ban all in-flight use of power banks.
While travellers may still bring one power bank under 100 watt hours on board, they can no longer use it to charge devices during flights, nor can they recharge it using the aircraft’s power supply. The device must remain stored in a seat pocket or a bag under the seat, rather than in overhead compartments.
As with existing rules, power banks remain prohibited in checked baggage. All units must display their capacity rating clearly, and any exceeding the specified limit will not be accepted.
The updated policy underscores Emirates Airline’s commitment to onboard safety, minimising risks associated with lithium battery devices. For more details, see Connector's story HERE.
