In the desert heart of Sharjah, Mleiha National Park has emerged as one of the world’s most remarkable heritage destinations. Developed by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, the site is now officially recognised as part of the UNESCO-listed Faya Palaeolandscape.
Mleiha National Park offers a journey through more than 210,000 years of human history. Visitors can trace the path of early human migration, explore Neolithic settlements, stand before Bronze Age tombs, and see one of the Arabian Peninsula's oldest known forts.
Artifacts found at the site reveal ancient connections stretching from Mesopotamia to the Indus Valley, proving Mleiha’s role as a hub of trade and civilisation.
But the park is more than a heritage site. It has become a destination for eco-tourism, archaeology and outdoor adventure. From desert treks and stargazing to immersive exhibitions at the Archaeological Centre, Mleiha combines education with exploration.
The recognition by UNESCO places Sharjah firmly on the global cultural map and highlights how preserving heritage can drive tourism, create jobs, and strengthen communities.
