His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, during his visit to Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport, was briefed about the model for a new Self-Driving Transport Zone.
This zone is designed to bring autonomous mobility into everyday life and spans three strategic locations including Al Jaddaf Metro Station, Dubai Festival City and Dubai Creek Harbour.
The model integrates land and marine transport into one smart ecosystem. It combines the Dubai Metro with a range of autonomous options, including a self-driving bus, logistics and road-cleaning vehicles, delivery robots, and even a driverless abra.
The aim is to give commuters and residents greater choice, allowing them to select transport based on speed, cost and convenience while reducing congestion and emissions.
The initiative reinforces Dubai’s commitment to building a future-ready transport system that is efficient, sustainable and seamlessly connected.
