The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has launched its annual influenza awareness campaign under the theme 'Protect Yourself, Protect Your Community'. Now in its tenth year, the initiative highlights the importance of vaccination as the first line of defence against seasonal illnesses.

Running until March 2026, the campaign focusses on protecting vulnerable groups, including children under five years old, the elderly, pregnant women, people with chronic illnesses, and healthcare workers. Vaccinations are available at government health centres, and all residents are encouraged to get their shots.

Officials stressed that flu cases typically peak during the winter months, making early vaccination crucial in reducing transmission, complications and hospitalisations. Alongside vaccination drives, the campaign includes awareness programmes, multilingual digital content and outreach activities designed to reach diverse community groups.

With artificial intelligence, advanced monitoring systems, and partnerships with local and international health bodies, MoHAP aims to strengthen the country’s readiness against seasonal and emergency health challenges.

Health experts also emphasised that the influenza vaccine is safe, effective and updated annually to match circulating strains.
