The UAE has announced the launch of the second phase of the campaign 'Safe Internet for Our Children', a regional initiative focused on protecting children from the risks of social media and the wider digital world.
Her Excellency Reem bint Abdullah Al Falasi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, stressed that social media now plays a central role in shaping children’s behaviour and values. While technology is an essential part of education and daily life, it also exposes young users to risks such as cyberbullying, fraud, exploitation, screen addiction and harmful content.
As part of the campaign, a new animated video series titled 'Alpha and Zain' has been produced in Arabic, English and French. Through relatable family scenarios, the series delivers messages on responsible internet use, tackling cyberbullying, managing screen time, balancing digital and real-life activities and identifying misinformation online.
Organised in cooperation with the League of Arab States, UNICEF, and the Arab Council for Childhood and Development, the campaign was unveiled during the latest session of the Arab Childhood Committee. It builds on earlier efforts first launched in 2021, reflecting growing concerns over children’s exposure to online threats.
By equipping children and parents with tools for safer internet use, the initiative aims to build resilience and ensure young generations can benefit from technology while staying protected from its dangers.
