Over 1,300 Abandoned Cars Removed From Dubai Streets

Dubai Municipality / X

Dubai Municipality has removed 1,387 abandoned vehicles and equipment across the city in the first half of 2025, as part of an ongoing campaign to maintain safety and cleanliness.

The initiative also saw more than 6,100 warning notices issued in residential, commercial, and industrial areas, targeting neglected vehicles that disrupt the city’s appearance and pose health and safety risks.

Dubai Municipality is also running awareness drives, reminding residents not to leave vehicles unattended for long periods, especially during holidays. Regular cleaning, using car covers and parking in designated areas are encouraged to prevent vehicles from being marked as abandoned.

Vehicle owners are typically given between three to fifteen days to move their cars before removal, depending on the vehicle's condition and location. For Dubai-registered vehicles, an SMS alert is also sent to the owner via the Roads and Transport Authority’s system. After the expiry of the warning, vehicles are removed in coordination with Emirates Parking and transferred to their impound yard in Al Awir.
