Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has delivered two new pedestrian bridges as part of the Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project. The first, on Sheikh Rashid Street, measures 91 metres, while the second, on Al Mina Street, spans 109 metres. Both are equipped with lifts, staircases, and modern safety systems, including fire alarms and remote monitoring.

Alongside these, RTA is building six pedestrian and cyclist bridges across major roads in Dubai. Five are nearly complete and set to open before the end of this year. They include two large-scale bridges, over Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road. Another bridge is located on Al Manara Street in Al Quoz Creative Zone.

Two other bridges are under construction and are also expected to open before the end of this year, which includes a bridge over Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and another over Dubai-Al Ain Road. The sixth bridge, located on Al Sukook Street in the Central Business District, is expected by early 2027.

RTA also announced nine additional bridges by 2028, near key sites including Coca-Cola Arena, Business Bay, and Burj Khalifa, along with six bridges on Al Asayel Street. In total, 23 more pedestrian bridges are planned by 2030.

Since 2006, Dubai has increased pedestrian bridges and underpasses from 26 to 177. These efforts have contributed to a 97% reduction in pedestrian fatalities. These new projects not only improve safety but also encourage residents to embrace walking, cycling, and use of e-scooters.
