The Hero Dubai Desert Classic, the European Tour golf tournament which returns to Dubai in January 2026, has announced a global sustainability challenge designed to crowdsource innovative solutions to reduce the environmental impact of events worldwide.
Launched in partnership with Deloitte, the 'Green Incubator Challenge' is open to entrepreneurs, start-ups, students, and companies worldwide. Entrants can submit both new concepts and ready-to-deploy solutions, with the winning idea to be showcased at the 2027 DP World Tour and Rolex Series tournament in Dubai.
Organisers say the initiative aims to accelerate innovation and meaningful change across the sports and entertainment industries. Participants will benefit from expert mentoring and evaluation to ensure ideas are practical, scalable, and capable of shaping the future of sustainable events.
As part of the DP World Tour’s wider 'Green Drive' programme, which commits to achieving net zero carbon by 2040, the challenge reflects the growing push for sustainability in global sport.
A shortlist of submissions will be revealed on 18 November, with three finalists chosen on 19 December. Finalists will then pitch their ideas to expert judges during the week of the 2026 tournament, setting the stage for a groundbreaking showcase at the 2027 edition.
