Emirates ID Renewal Made Easier For Citizens

UAEICP/X

Renewing or replacing an Emirates ID has just become much simpler for UAE citizens. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security has announced a major update that streamlines the process into a single step.

Instead of filling in multiple details and submitting additional documents, citizens now only need to submit an application and pay the required fees. During the renewal stage, the system will automatically determine the card’s validity period based on age. Validity will be for five years for applicants aged 21 years old and under, and 10 years for those aged 21 years old and above.

Previously, applicants had to provide extra information including personal address and other details during the renewal process, making it longer and more complex. The new system eliminates these steps, speeding up approvals and cutting down on government bureaucracy.

While ID cards are essential for all residents to live and work in the UAE, this update currently applies only to UAE citizens possessing Emirates ID. The change promises quicker renewals or replacements, less paperwork, and greater convenience, aligning with the country’s ongoing digital transformation in public services.
