Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has stepped up efforts to ensure safety in household gas distribution, conducting 4,322 field inspections across the emirate between 2023 and mid-2025.
The inspections, carried out in collaboration with the Dubai Regulatory Committee for Petroleum Products Trading, resulted in 1,098 violations and the impoundment of around 170 vehicles. Offences included the use of counterfeit or unverified gas cylinders and unlicensed transport activities.
Saeed Al Ramsi, Director of Licencing Activities Monitoring at RTA’s Licencing Agency, stated, “Household gas distribution is a critical activity with direct implications on the environment, public health, and safety. It requires strict oversight to ensure full compliance with licencing requirements and identify counterfeit or untraceable gas cylinders, thereby avoiding serious potential risks”.
These inspection campaigns support Dubai’s strategic goals of improving public safety, advancing sustainability, and ensuring efficient transport operations.
