Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has begun major upgrades on Al Thanya Street, a vital road linking Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Wasl Road.
The works, scheduled for completion in the coming weeks, aim to reduce congestion, improve safety, and make travel easier for residents, especially due to Al Thanya Street's connection to several key areas including Jumeirah, Al Wasl, Umm Suqeim, Umm Al Sheif and Al Manara.
The project includes modifying the existing roundabout on the service road on Sheikh Zayed Road leading to Al Thanya Street, constructing a signal-controlled intersection at the junction of Street 10 and Al Thanya Street, and developing safer pedestrian and cycling paths.
These upgrades are expected to shorten travel times between Umm Al Sheif and Al Manara while ensuring smoother movement between surrounding residential and commercial areas such as Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim, and Al Wasl.
