The National Media Office (NMO) has referred a group of social media users to the Federal Public Prosecution after they were found violating media content standards. The authority confirmed that its monitoring teams operate round the clock to track breaches, notify users and urge compliance with the country’s regulations to avoid legal consequences.
The move comes after the NMO reiterated earlier this year that social media users must uphold the UAE’s principles of respect, tolerance, and coexistence. Failure to do so, it warned, would result in legal accountability.
While no further details were shared about the individuals involved, the NMO stressed that such measures are necessary to ensure a responsible media environment and to protect communities from harmful or non-constructive content.
NMO called on all users to engage on social media responsibly and in line with media values and ethics, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful digital space for all. To see more details about media rules and regulations in the country, visit NMO's website.
