New Bridge Expansion To Cut Travel Times To DXB Terminal 1

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in partnership with Dubai Airports, has announced a major project to widen and upgrade the bridge leading to Terminal 1 of Dubai International Airport (DXB). The bridge expansion promises smoother access to the airport and less time spent in traffic, especially during peak hours.

The project will expand the bridge from three to four lanes, increasing its capacity by 33%, from 4,200 to 5,600 vehicles per hour. Using advanced engineering techniques, the new design ensures construction will be completed quickly without causing traffic diversions, keeping Airport Street open and safe for motorists.

His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, highlighted that the expansion aims to shorten travel times, improve customer experience, and support the rising number of passengers at DXB, which welcomed over 92 million travellers in 2024.

The project, which also includes new lighting, landscaping, and road improvements, is part of RTA’s broader efforts to strengthen Dubai’s transport infrastructure.
