Dubai Foster Care Committee Earns Near Perfect Approval Rating

WAM

Dubai’s Foster Care Committee has released its half-yearly report, revealing a near 100% approval rate for its recommendations by the emirate’s judicial authorities. The 98.26% approval rate highlights the strong trust placed in the Committee’s professionalism and its role in safeguarding children’s rights.

The Committee, which was set up in 2022, allows Emirati families to foster orphaned children, while also protecting their rights. There are clear criteria outlined by official authorities as to who can foster orphaned children in the country.

Between January and June this year, the Committee reviewed 287 case files referred by Dubai Courts, interviewed over 1,100 parties, examined 574 criminal records of fostering applicants, and conducted 397 field visits. The report also noted the preparation of 38 psycho-medical reports, involving children from 36 different nationalities.

Officials emphasised that the Committee’s work reflects Dubai’s vision of prioritising family and child welfare. By applying rigorous professional criteria and checks, the Committee ensures that foster placements are awarded only to the most suitable and capable carers, helping children grow in safe and stable environments.
