Parents across the UAE will start the new school year, beginning on 25 August, with added support, thanks to a new decision by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR). The move allows federal employees to adjust their work schedules to better manage school drop-offs, pick-ups and important events.
On the first day of school, federal staff will be permitted up to three hours of flexibility in their work time, helping families ease into the new routine. For parents with nursery and kindergarten children, this flexibility extends throughout the first week of classes, giving them three hours of reduced work time per day.
The policy goes beyond the start of the school year. Parents will also be entitled to take up to three hours off during the academic year to attend parent-teacher meetings, graduation ceremonies and other school-related events.
FAHR also noted that federal entities should accommodate different school start dates across curricula, ensuring all parents benefit from the measure.
