In a move set to significantly benefit Emirati families, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has issued a new law aimed at swiftly resolving disputes related to citizen housing contracts in Dubai.
The law introduces a specialised dispute resolution system that allows conflicts to be settled quickly and amicably, without lengthy court delays. This is designed to protect the interests of all parties involved, ensure homes are delivered on time, and prevent unnecessary interruptions to construction projects. As such, the new law is expected to fast-track housing completions, reduce legal costs, and strengthen trust between citizens and housing developers.
A dedicated branch will be created within Dubai Courts’ Centre for Amicable Settlement of Disputes to handle disputes specifically related to citizen housing projects, offering expert mediation within 20 days, extendable by mutual agreement.
The law provides a clear timeline and an efficient alternative to traditional litigation, enabling projects to proceed smoothly while supporting family stability.
Set to take effect on 1 January, 2026, the law reflects the Dubai leadership’s commitment to ensuring a high quality of life for citizens, by building a more supportive and responsive legal framework for housing development.
