Road Closures In Academic City As Dubai Metro Blue Line Construction Continues

RTA / X

Dubai residents heading toward Academic City should prepare for traffic diversions as construction ramps up on Dubai Metro’s new Blue Line. Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a key road closure that may impact daily commutes in the area.

Starting this week, 63rd Street, located in front of the German International School Dubai, will be closed in both directions. Although access to the school via Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Street will remain open, drivers should expect reroutes and heavier traffic, especially during peak hours. Alternative exit and entry points to the school are provided to minimise the disruption for the students and staff.

RTA is advising all motorists to plan ahead, leave extra time for travel, and use alternative routes.

This temporary disruption is part of the city’s wider efforts to expand its public transport network. Once complete, Dubai Metro's Blue Line will connect major residential and commercial hubs, improving travel options for thousands of daily commuters.

Earlier this month, RTA had announced traffic diversions near Mirdif to accommodate Blue Line construction. See Connector's full story HERE.
