Dubai is ramping up efforts to ensure safe and compliant travel experiences by tightening oversight on passenger transport services, particularly tourist, chartered, and international buses.

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recently completed 15,575 inspections of passenger transport vehicles as part of an ongoing campaign to monitor service quality and regulatory compliance. The initiative, conducted with support from Dubai Police and immigration officials at the Hatta border, is part of a broader move to crack down on irregular and unsafe operations.

Saeed Al Balooshi, Director of Passenger Transport Activities Monitoring at RTA's Public Transport Agency, said, "Through these inspections, we do not only focus on issuing violations, but also aim to improve the level of services provided and urge company operators to adhere to the rules and regulations of the passenger transport sector in the Emirate of Dubai. This will ensure the continuity of these services, meet the public's needs for means of transport, and enhance the reputation of the RTA and the Emirate of Dubai in this field".

This means increased assurance that buses operating within Dubai meet official standards. It also supports the city’s reputation as a safe and efficient hub for tourists, which is especially relevant during peak travel seasons.

The RTA continues to call on operators to strictly adhere to licencing and safety requirements to maintain the trust of passengers and align with Dubai’s broader transport and tourism goals.
