The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has released special gold and silver commemorative coins to honour the memory and contributions of the UAE’s founding fathers, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
This initiative is part of the 'Zayed and Rashid' campaign, aimed at reinforcing national unity and highlighting the leaders' roles in the formation of the Union.
The gold coin, measuring 40mm in diameter and weighing 40gm, features the faces of both leaders on one side and the UAE national emblem on the other side, with inscriptions in Arabic and English. This version will be available exclusively at the Central Bank's headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
The silver coin, larger at 50mm in diameter and weighing 50gm, includes the same design, along with the phrase 'Commemorative Coin' in Arabic. It can be purchased via CBUAE's website.
The coins not only celebrate the legacies of these visionary leaders but also aim to inspire future generations with their values and milestones in building the UAE.
His Excellency Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of CBUAE, said, "This issuance marks the Zayed and Rashid campaign, aiming to solidify the values of unity and development upon which our nation was founded, and to highlight inspiring milestones in their journeys. We reaffirm our commitment to immortalising our national history and fostering it in the hearts of future generations".
