Dubai Courts has announced the creation of a Child Protection Case Registration Unit under its Personal Status Court, aimed at delivering faster, more effective responses to child protection cases. The move is part of a broader shift toward proactive justice that prioritises early intervention and child safety.
The unit is focused on safeguarding the rights, safety, and wellbeing of minors under the age of 18, particularly those involved in legal cases or whose families are subject to court orders. It will register and monitor child protection cases and collaborate with several authorities including Dubai Police, Public Prosecution, the Community Development Authority, and others to streamline responses and prevent harm.
The unit’s operations will rely on digital case registration, professional case management, and national child protection protocols. It will also manage referrals from other bodies and ensure proper handling under UAE law.
In addition to managing cases, the unit will train court staff, measure performance, and support coordination across judicial and external agencies. This includes working with partners such as the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, and the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation.
