People of Abu Dhabi may soon see their parcels arriving from the sky as autonomous drone parcel deliveries are being tested in Khalifa City, offering a glimpse into the future of logistics in the UAE.
The pilot flight, a collaboration between aviation tech firm LODD, logistics group 7X, and delivery provider EMX, saw a drone carry a small package from a local post office to a nearby drop zone.
This is the first trial under Abu Dhabi’s broader plan to bring smart, efficient and autonomous delivery solutions to communities. It was conducted with support from Abu Dhabi Investment Office and overseen by aviation and transport regulators.
The goal? To reduce delivery times, improve access in harder-to-reach areas, and eventually roll out this service across the emirate, while building on Abu Dhabi’s vision to become a leader in smart mobility and future-ready infrastructure.
Though it is still early days, this trial is a promising step towards bringing drone deliveries to neighbourhoods in the UAE. Residents can expect more updates as the project expands in the months ahead.
