Key Traffic Upgrades Completed In Business Bay Area

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a series of critical traffic improvements in Business Bay, a key residential and commercial district in the heart of the city. The upgrades are designed to improve road safety, ease congestion, and enhance overall traffic flow, especially during peak hours.

Three major enhancements were implemented on roads connecting Business Bay to Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, which are two of the city’s busiest routes.

The upgrades include the following:

  • A street parallel to Sheikh Zayed Road has been converted from a two-way, two-lane road into a one-way dual carriageway, effectively doubling vehicle capacity and minimising traffic overlap points. The road is also equipped with new signage and lane markings for better clarity and safety.
  • At the Al Mustaqbal Street and Al Khaleej Al Tejari 1 Street intersection, RTA added a new 100-metre-long storage lane to accommodate more right-turning vehicles, increasing capacity by 50% and reducing congestion towards First Al Khail Street.
  • Further along the service road near Business Bay Towers, a new lane has been added, bringing a 50% boost in capacity, which should help smooth traffic entering and exiting high-density residential and office zones. The entrance to the bridge on Al Mustaqbal Street over the Dubai Canal towards First Al Khail Street has also been expanded from one to two lanes, easing traffic pressures.
