The highly anticipated concert in Dubai by R'n'B icon Mary J. Blige, referred to as the Queen of Hip Hop Soul by Grammy Awards, has been cancelled. The concert was set to take place on Tuesday, 24 June at Coca-Cola Arena, organised by Live Nation Middle East.
The event has been removed from Coca-Cola Arena’s official event calendar and also from Live Nation's website. Connector received an email from Coca-Cola Arena stating that the concert has been cancelled due to 'unforeseen circumstances' and that the ticket amount will be refunded to the ticket holders.
The Grammy-winning artist, who last performed a full concert in Dubai over a decade ago, has a music career spanning over three decades, selling over 100 million records, winning nine Grammy Awards, and even two Oscar nominations. Blige's return was seen as a major milestone in the region’s growing live music scene.
While no official reason for the cancellation has been released, hopes remain high among fans that the concert will be rescheduled soon.
