Parents in Abu Dhabi will now be able to gauge the quality of private schools at a glance, thanks to a new initiative by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK). Private schools across the emirate are required to display School Performance Plaques at their entrances, featuring their latest Irtiqa’a rating and National Identity Mark.
The plaques aim to increase transparency, support informed decision-making, and encourage continuous improvement in education standards.
According to ADEK, the Irtiqa’a framework evaluates schools across six key areas including curriculum quality, teaching quality, student achievements and wellbeing, while the National Identity Mark highlights how well a school reflects and promotes UAE cultural values within their educational environment.
A third indicator, the Wellbeing Mark, will be introduced soon to recognise schools' efforts in supporting the emotional and physical health of students and staff.
Families are encouraged to check these plaques during visits and explore further through ADEK’s digital platforms.
