Dubai is set to become a regional leader in cancer treatment with the construction of the UAE’s first proton therapy centre, offering a cutting-edge alternative to conventional radiation therapy.
Backed by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and developed by Yas Healthcare, the centre will begin construction in early 2026 and is expected to be completed by late 2028. The project brings a new level of precision in treatment and hope to patients, especially children and those with tumours near sensitive organs, by reducing damage to healthy tissue.
The Yas Proton Therapy Centre is being developed in collaboration with Singapore’s National Cancer Centre, ensuring global expertise is embedded in every stage.
Dr. Alawi Alsheikh-Ali, Director General of DHA stated, "This groundbreaking technology will advance cancer treatment options for our community and reinforce Dubai’s goal of ranking among the top 10 cities globally for healthy life expectancy".
The new facility will enable patients in the UAE and across the region to access advanced care locally, avoiding the financial and emotional toll of travelling abroad. The move aligns with Dubai’s long-term strategy to enhance healthcare innovation, accessibility and wellbeing.
