Air travel between the UAE and several Middle East destinations has been disrupted following Israel’s military strikes on Iran in the early morning of 13 June. UAE carriers Etihad Airways and flydubai confirmed a series of cancellations and delays due to the closure of airspace over Iran and Israel and heightened security alerts.
Etihad Airways cancelled and delayed several flights between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv on 13 June, as Ben Gurion Airport has been shut down until further notice. Delays of up to 12 hours were reported, with the airline working to assist affected passengers. Travellers are urged to check real-time flight status via the Etihad website or app.
Flydubai also suspended flights to cities in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iran and Israel, with several services rerouted or turned back. Those who booked their flights on flydubai can monitor their flight status online via their website.
Other major carriers, like Emirates, have been reported to have rerouted mid-flight to avoid the air space over Iran or Israel.
The disruptions come amid growing regional instability, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicating that operations targeting Iran's nuclear and military infrastructure could extend over several days.
Passengers with upcoming travel plans in the region are advised to stay informed and prepared for further delays or changes.
