His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has officially laid the foundation stone for Dubai Metro Blue Line, marking a major expansion of the city’s metro rail network.

The Blue Line comes with a total investment of Dhs 56 billion, and will stretch 30 kilometres, boosting the total Dubai Metro network to 131 kilometres and 78 stations. It was earlier announced that the Blue Line will start its operations in September 2029.

Set to play a vital role in Dubai’s integrated public transport ecosystem, the Blue Line will feature 14 stations, including major interchange points at Creek Station and Al Jadaf Station in Green Line, Centrepoint Station in Red Line, as well as an iconic new station in Dubai Creek Harbour which is poised to become a visual centrepiece.

The route includes 15.5 kilometres underground and 14.5 kilometres above ground, offering seamless links between Dubai International Airport and strategic locations like Mirdif, Al Warqa, International City, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City, Ras Al Khor Industrial Area, and Dubai Festival City.

The project aligns with Dubai’s long-term vision to build a more connected, sustainable, and commuter-friendly city as it continues to invest in smart urban mobility.
