RTA Launches Traffic Upgrades In 40 Dubai Locations This Summer

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has rolled out a sweeping traffic enhancement plan across 40 key locations in the city, with works scheduled from June to September this year. The improvements aim to ease congestion, improve road safety, and support the city’s rapid urban growth.

Key works across the locations include safer school crossings, new access routes to labour camps and residential districts, widened entry and exit points around schools, and pedestrian improvements in creative and high-traffic zones like Al Quoz.

The enhancements will span:

  • 22 major roads, including Ras Al Khor Road, Hessa Street, Thanya Street, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, and Al Wasl Road

  • Nine school zones, with a focus on Al Warqa, Al Safa, and Al Barsha. This includes upgrades at the Al Warqa 1 school complex, the construction of an additional bus entrance at GEMS School in Al Warqa 3, the widening of access and exit points around The English College in Al Safa 1 on Sheikh Zayed Road, and the installation of a signal-controlled pedestrian crossing on Al Seedaf Street in Al Barsha 1.

  • Five major development areas, including Tolerance District, Al Khawaneej 2 and Nad Al Sheba, which will see enhanced direct access routes and other improvements.

By concentrating the upgrades during the summer break, RTA hopes to minimise disruption while accelerating progress across high-impact corridors. The effort is part of a broader vision to elevate Dubai’s infrastructure in step with its growth.
