In a major recognition of literary and cultural contributions, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has been named the 'Inspirational Literary Figure for Silk Road Poets' by the World Silk Road Forum.
This prestigious accolade celebrates His Highness Sheikh Mohammed’s enduring impact as both a statesman and poet, honouring his role in transforming Dubai into a global cultural crossroads, echoing the legacy of the historic Silk Road.
A leading figure in Nabati poetry, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed’s writings explore themes of identity, patriotism, leadership, and love, and have resonated with readers across the Arab world, with acclaimed works like 'Zayed' (2018), 'Flashes of Verse' (2014), '40 Poems from the Desert' (2011) and others.
As part of this recognition, the World Silk Road Forum also announced that Dubai will host the fifth edition of the Silk Road International Poetry Festival, making it the first Arab city to welcome the global event. The festival will run from 23 to 29 May, bringing together around fifty poets, artists, and painters from various countries. The award ceremony is scheduled for 27 May at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library.
