Abu Dhabi is set to launch the region’s first Bachelor of Arts in Video Game Design, marking a milestone in the emirate’s push to become a regional centre for creative industries.

The new dual-certified degree is the result of a strategic partnership between the Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), Abu Dhabi University (ADU) and renowned French institution Rubika, and will welcome its first students in the upcoming academic year.

The programme will offer students world-class academic instruction, practical industry experience, and international exchange opportunities, with a curriculum shaped by global best practices in game design, animation and interactive media.

As part of the initiative, up to 140 scholarships will be funded over the next six years by DCT Abu Dhabi to support wider access to the programme. Students will also benefit from internships and industry links through the Abu Dhabi Gaming platform.

Rubika will provide curriculum leadership, faculty training, and student exchange opportunities with its international campuses, while ADU will deliver the programme on its campus, ensuring alignment with national academic standards.
