Dubai Creek’s wharf on the Deira side has undergone a major transformation, with Dubai Municipality completing Dhs 112 million worth of development works aimed at modernising the historic maritime corridor while preserving its heritage and boosting trade and tourism.
Spanning two kilometres, the revamped wharf now features stronger retaining walls, 200 anchors, 500 ship berths, and a raised quay level of 8.3 metres, all designed to ensure safer, more efficient docking for both commercial and tourist vessels.
Part of Dubai’s broader Economic Agenda D33, the project also included dredging the creek bed, adding protective rock, and building a rainwater drainage system.
Beyond infrastructure, the upgrade includes a new public promenade and cargo handling zones, offering visitors a scenic space to enjoy one of Dubai’s most iconic waterfronts.
His Excellency Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said, "This project reinforces the creek’s role as one of the emirate’s most vital trade and tourism assets and exemplifies Dubai Municipality’s commitment to making Dubai a more pioneering, sustainable, and attractive city”.
It was also announced that work is already underway on the Bur Dubai side of the creek, and will further improve maritime safety and capacity once complete.
