To mark International Families Day on 15 May, the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) launched a series of awareness activities focused on family resilience, the key to building stronger, more emotionally healthy households.
At the heart of the campaign was a virtual session titled 'Family Resilience', presented by Amna Ibrahim Al Mutawa, the Psychological Services Manager at the DFWAC. The talk drew around 100 participants from the wider community.
The session explored how families can become more emotionally adaptable and supportive, especially during difficult times. Al Mutawa explained that resilience isn’t just about being patient or tough. It’s about working together, communicating openly, and turning challenges into opportunities to grow.
The discussion focused on the importance of open communication between parents and children, the need for emotional support and non-judgmental family environments, how daily routines like shared meals and conversations help strengthen bonds and also the role of resilient families in preventing addiction and emotional stress.
Modern challenges such as digital distractions, changing family roles and reduced quality time were also addressed, with simple tips offered to help families reconnect.
