The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has flown 101 injured Palestinians and 87 accompanying family members to the UAE for urgent medical treatment, in line with its humanitarian commitment to support the people of Gaza.
The latest evacuation, conducted in partnership with the World Health Organisation, forms part of a broader initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to treat 1,000 wounded Palestinian children and 1,000 cancer patients from Gaza in UAE hospitals.
To date, the country has received 2,630 patients and family members for treatment since the crisis escalated in October 2023.
His Excellency Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organisations and Vice Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, reaffirmed the nation’s unwavering commitment saying that the UAE has delivered over 65,000 tonnes of relief aid, including food and medical supplies, making it one of the largest contributors to humanitarian relief in Gaza, accounting for over 40 per cent of total aid delivered since the start of the conflict.
The UAE continues to lead major humanitarian efforts by land, sea, and air, focusing on both immediate relief and longer-term medical support for affected civilians.
