The Integrated Transport Centre, Abu Dhabi or AD Mobility has announced a temporary restriction on heavy vehicles and labour buses entering Abu Dhabi Island on 15 May from noon until 2pm on 16 May.
To support drivers in re-routing, AD Mobility released a map highlighting Sheikh Zayed Bridge, Maqta Bridge, Musaffah Bridge, and Sheikh Khalifa Bridge as key access points affected by the restriction.
The ban, shared via a social media update, is part of measures to manage traffic ahead of a high-profile visit by US President Donald Trump, who is currently on a historic Middle East tour.
This goal of this temporary restriction is to ease congestion and improve traffic flow across Abu Dhabi Island during the visit. Authorities often implement such traffic diversions during major state events to ensure smoother mobility and enhanced safety. However, AD Mobility's social media post mentions that logistics and general cleaning company vehicles are exempted from this ban.
