The United Arab Emirates has been named the second safest country in the world, according to the latest 2025 Safety Index by Numbeo. With an impressive safety index score of 84.5, the UAE ranked just behind Andorra, a small European nation.

The UAE also achieved another milestone, ranking second globally for the lowest crime rate in the 2025 Crime Index by Numbeo, further solidifying its reputation for security and stability.

Numbeo’s rankings are based on surveys conducted over the past 36 months, gathering public perceptions on general crime levels, safety when walking alone at night, concerns about violent crime and burglary, and incidents of discrimination.  A higher safety score indicates a low crime rate and strong public confidence in security.

Other Gulf Cooperation Council nations also performed exceptionally well in this year’s safety rankings with Qatar in third place and Oman in fifth.

The UAE’s high ranking reflects its government’s continuous efforts to enhance security, law enforcement and infrastructure, making it one of the most desirable destinations for residents, businesses and tourists.
