To enhance traffic efficiency and ease congestion around Mall of the Emirates, Dubai's Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a series of road development projects, significantly improving access to one of Dubai’s most-visited retail and leisure hubs.

With over 40 million annual visitors, the surrounding roads often experience high traffic volumes. The newly completed projects aim to reduce congestion, improve pedestrian and cyclist accessibility, and enhance overall road safety.

Key Upgrades:

  • Al Sabt Street expansion: Upgraded from a one-way street to a two-way street with two lanes in each direction to accommodate more vehicles.
  • Al Barsha 2 Street upgrade: A new lane has been added in both directions leading to Mall of the Emirates bus station, ensuring smoother flow.
  • Traffic signal adjustments: Three traffic signals that were affected by recent expansion works have been reconfigured to optimise movement.
  • Enhanced street lighting: Lamp-posts have been repositioned and lighting units upgraded for improved visibility and safety.
  • New pedestrian and cycling infrastructure: Dedicated pedestrian pathways and a cycling lane have been introduced for safer and more accessible movement.

These improvements follow the 300-metre Sheikh Zayed Road bridge, completed in January, which has already cut travel time from Umm Suqeim to Mall of the Emirates from 15 minutes to just 8 minutes
