The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has confirmed that the UAE continues to rank among the nations with the lowest tuberculosis (TB) rates, reflecting the success of its comprehensive public health strategy. MoHaP issued the statement ahead of the World Tuberculosis Day on 24 March
Key Measures Taken by UAE:
- Advanced surveillance and monitoring: Standardised surveillance systems and rapid diagnostics for early TB detection.
- Consistent medication supply: Guaranteed availability of TB treatments and modern therapies.
- Vaccination and screening: Routine newborn vaccinations and proactive health screenings for visa applicants before and after arrival.
- Healthcare training: Equipping professionals with specialised training to improve TB diagnosis and treatment.
- Public awareness and community initiatives: Awareness programmes, social media campaigns, and red-lit national landmarks to mark World Tuberculosis Day.
Aligned with the World Health Organisation roadmap and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the UAE has pledged long-term investments in scientific research, innovation, and digital healthcare technologies to eliminate TB by 2030.
