The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has announced the official Eid Al-Fitr holiday for federal government employees. The holidays will be from 1 to 3 Shawwal, with official work resuming on 4 Shawwal. If Ramadan lasts 30 days, the last day of Ramadan would also be observed as a public holiday, thereby extending the number of public holidays, according to FAHR.
Whether Ramadan lasts 29 days or 30 days will depend on the moon sighting on the 29th night of Ramadan (which will be 29 March, Saturday night). Here are the corresponding dates in the Gregorian calendar.
- If Ramadan lasts 29 days, Eid Al-Fitr holidays will be from Sunday, 30 March to Tuesday, 1 April, with work resuming on Wednesday, 2 April.
- If Ramadan lasts 30 days, Eid Al-Fitr holidays will be from Monday, 31 March to Wednesday, 2 April, with work resuming on Thursday, 3 April.
The final dates will be confirmed after the moon sighting.
On this occasion, FAHR extended its congratulations to the UAE leadership, citizens, residents, and the wider Arab and Islamic communities, wishing them prosperity, happiness, and well-being.
