Dubai Municipality has launched the ‘Safe Water for a Healthy Community’ initiative, in partnership with the Community Development Authority (CDA), to enhance water system safety in senior citizens' homes and villas. In alignment with 2025 as the Year of the Community, this initiative reflects the UAE’s commitment to fostering a sustainable and supportive society.

The initiative will assess water systems in 42 homes and villas across 10 areas in Dubai. Specialist engineering teams will conduct on-site inspections, testing water samples at Dubai Central Laboratory to ensure they meet international safety standards. If any risks are identified, corrective measures will be implemented in collaboration with water treatment specialists.

To promote public awareness, Dubai Municipality and CDA will also organise educational workshops in Dubai councils, focusing on water hygiene, maintenance practices, and the importance of regular testing to prevent contamination.

Dubai Municipality encourages residents to take preventive measures, such as disinfecting water tanks and plumbing systems every six months using Dubai Municipality-approved companies. Regular maintenance helps prevent pollutant accumulation and reduces health risks. Additionally, draining stagnant water is advised to prevent bacterial growth and contamination.

By prioritising water safety and hygiene, Dubai Municipality and CDA aim to promote sustainable living practices, ensuring a healthy environment for all residents, especially senior citizens.
