Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a Ramadan traffic awareness campaign aimed at improving road safety for drivers, pedestrians and delivery riders. The initiative includes safety education, gift distribution and awareness of revised truck movement restrictions to ease congestion and reduce accidents during the Holy Month.
Traffic Awareness And Safety Initiatives
RTA is working with Dubai Police, the Ministry of Interior, and private sector partners to educate key road users, including taxi drivers, heavy vehicle operators and e-scooter riders, about responsible road behaviour during Ramadan.
To support delivery bike riders, RTA has partnered with Noon to distribute 10,000 Ramadan gift packs, each containing an awareness brochure on traffic safety. Similarly, Listerine has collaborated with RTA to provide another 10,000 gift packs for vehicle drivers, metro users and cyclists.
RTA is also providing Iftar meals with safety brochures to taxi, public bus and truck drivers in partnership with Dubai Taxi Company, Dubai Investments, Tokyo Marine Insurance, Emirates Driving Institute, Galadari Driving Institute and Bin Yaber Driving Institute.
Revised Truck Movement Restrictions
To ease traffic flow, RTA has implemented revised truck movement restrictions during Ramadan:
-
E11 corridor (Sharjah to Sheikh Zayed Road, Intersection No. 7): No truck movement from 7am to 11pm.
-
Deira and Bur Dubai city centre: No truck movement from 7am to 11pm.
-
Streets with three-time daily bans: Morning restriction adjusted to 7.30am to 9.30am and afternoon ban from 2pm to 4pm.
-
Emirates Road: Ban updated to 4.30pm to 7pm.
Enhancing Road Safety During Ramadan
RTA’s campaign encourages safer driving habits, reminding motorists of the risks associated with fasting-related fatigue. The initiative aligns with Dubai’s long-term vision for seamless and sustainable mobility while fostering responsible driving behaviour during Ramadan
