Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has begun implementing the UTC-UX Fusion traffic signal control system, incorporating artificial intelligence (AI), predictive analytics and digital twin technology. This smart traffic system will be deployed across all major intersections in Dubai, with completion expected by first half of 2026.
Mr. Hussain Al Banna, CEO of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, stated that the system will improve traffic efficiency by dynamically adjusting signal timings based on real-time data, reducing congestion by 10 to 20%. The technology will prioritise public transport, emergency vehicles and pedestrians, while enhancing overall mobility.
Key Features Of The UTC-UX Fusion System:
- AI-powered traffic prediction to adjust signal timings before congestion builds up.
- Digital twin technology to test and optimise traffic signal changes before implementation.
- Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems to improve communication between smart vehicles and traffic signals, enhancing road safety and reducing journey times
This initiative aligns with Dubai’s smart and sustainable mobility vision, reinforcing its position as a global leader in intelligent transport solutions.
