RTA Launch Upgraded Traditional Abras To Enhance Marine Transport

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched the fourth-generation traditional abras, further modernising the city’s marine transport network. The upgrade aims to enhance passenger experience, integrate marine transit with public transport, and boost Dubai’s appeal as a world-class tourist destination.

Key Enhancements And Features

  • Increased capacity – Now accommodates 24 passengers (up from 20).
  • Universal design code compliance – Ensuring safety, comfort and accessibility for all, including dedicated spaces for people of determination
  • Smart technology integration – Real-time passenger info screens, safety alerts and digital destination boards.
  • Sustainability and Safety – Certified under Gulf Standard Specifications for maritime safety.

Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency, stated: "This step reflects RTA’s commitment to enhancing service quality and improving the overall experience for marine transport users in line with its strategic goals".
