Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the construction of 40 air-conditioned rest areas across key locations, providing much-needed comfort and safety for delivery riders.
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, highlighted that the initiative supports Dubai’s Traffic Safety Strategy, which aims for ‘Zero Fatalities’ on roads.
Dubai has witnessed rapid growth in the delivery sector, with 2,535 companies operating 46,600 delivery bikes as of June last year. These rest areas will offer riders a safe space to wait between orders, reducing risks associated with fatigue and extreme weather exposure.
Key Features And Locations
- Air-conditioned seating for up to 10 riders in each facility
- Designated parking spaces for motorcycles
- Strategically placed, based on demand & operational data
Rest areas have been established in high-demand locations, including: Hessa Street, Barsha Heights, Al Barsha, Al Karama, Riggat Al Buteen, Umm Suqeim (Jumeirah 3), Jumeirah (Al Wasl Road), The Greens, Dubai World Trade Centre, Al Rashidiya, Al Satwa, Nad Al Hamar, Al Nahda, Oud Metha, Arabian Ranches, International City, Business Bay, Dubai Marina, Al Jaddaf, Mirdif, Last Exit Al Khawaneej, Dubai Motor City and Al Garhoud.
This initiative positions Dubai as a leader in road safety, ensuring better working conditions for delivery riders while enhancing overall traffic efficiency.
