Over 500 EV Charging Stations To Be Installed In 2025

The UAE is accelerating its electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure expansion, with plans to install over 500 EV charging stations by the end of 2025. This initiative aligns with the nation’s sustainability goals and efforts to reduce carbon emissions, according to His Excellency Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.

Speaking at the preliminary day of World Governments Summit 2025, His Excellency Sharif Al Olama highlighted the rapid growth of EV infrastructure, noting that over 100 charging stations were installed nationwide in 2024. The government is now fast-tracking expansion to meet rising EV demand.

He also emphasised the integrated approach to setting up a robust infrastructure that enables the widespread adoption of EVs, in collaboration with private sector and local authorities. He also noted that the UAE aims to expand its renewable energy capacity to over 14 gigawatts by 2030, further reinforcing its commitment to clean energy development
