As the UAE marked its 28th National Environment Day on 4 February, the nation reaffirmed its deep-rooted commitment to sustainability and environmental conservation. Under the theme “Our Roots, Our Future”, this year’s celebration highlights the UAE’s dedication to preserving its natural resources for future generations.

Her Excellency Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri
, Secretary-General of the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD), emphasised that sustainability is not just a policy but a fundamental value woven into the UAE’s heritage, instilled by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Founding Father of the UAE, and carried forward by the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

EAD continues to drive impactful initiatives, including freshwater conservation, air quality monitoring and biodiversity protection, ensuring a clean and healthy environment that enhances quality of life in the emirate.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, echoed this sentiment in a statement on X, urging all citizens and residents to adopt eco-friendly behaviours and protect the country’s sustainability gains.
