On 11 February, the world will celebrate the 10th International Day of Women and Girls in Science (IDWGS), a day dedicated to recognising the critical role women and girls play in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Established by the United Nations in 2015, this day highlights the need for gender equality in STEM fields and aims to inspire the next generation of female scientists, innovators and leaders. Despite progress, women remain under-represented in STEM careers globally, making initiatives like this more important than ever
This year, Expo City Dubai is taking the lead in celebrating this milestone with a special event titled “Innovators of Tomorrow”. Hosted at the iconic Women’s Pavilion, the event will feature a panel discussion on “Breaking Barriers – Inspiring the Next Generation of Women in STEM”. The discussion will bring together some of the most inspiring women in STEM, each of whom have inspiring success stories to share.
The panel includes an impressive lineup of trailblazers, including:
-
Marwa Al Memari, the first female Emirati aerospace engineer
-
Fatima AlKaabi, Emirati inventor
-
Perihan Abouzeid, Founder and CEO of PeriCare
-
Arabella Willing, Head of Conservation Outreach and Citizen Science, Emirates Nature-WWF
The session will be moderated by Ryma Affani, Curator, Emirates Soil Museum, International Center for Biosaline Agriculture. Don’t miss your chance to attend this event. Find out more details about the event HERE.
