Plans are underway to implement the new smart parking system at one of Dubai’s busiest malls, making parking smoother and more efficient for shoppers.
City Centre Deira has already implemented the barrier-less parking system, with Mall of the Emirates set to follow in February.
This initiative, introduced by public parking provider Parkin in collaboration with Majid Al Futtaim, aims to simplify access to a total of 21,000 parking spaces and accommodate the 20 million cars that use these malls annually. While the parking costs remain unchanged, the new system will make the shopping experience more convenient, without worrying over parking.
How It Works
The new system uses advanced licence plate recognition technology to track vehicles as they enter and exit, eliminating the need for physical tickets or barriers. Here's what shoppers need to know:

Cameras will automatically detect licence plates and calculate parking fees.

An SMS with a payment link will be sent to drivers for any charges.

Customers can link their accounts to Parkin’s digital wallet for faster payments.
The parking fees and free parking hours remain unchanged at the malls. Parking is free for the first 3 hours at City Centre Deira and for the first four 4 hours at the Mall of the Emirates.

A More Convenient Shopping Experience
With this system, shoppers can drive in and out of the mall parking spaces without delays, making visits to the malls quicker and hassle-free. Although City Centre Mirdif was initially part of the new barrier-less parking plan, it has been excluded since it does not have paid parking.
