To mark the 15th anniversary of Dubai Metro, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a special academic scholarship programme for 15 Emirati students born on 9 September 2009. This initiative aligns with the Dubai Social Agenda 33 is designed to nurture future leaders in the field of railway engineering.
The scholarship programme unfolds in three phases:
Phase One: Over two years in school, students will receive practical training at RTA during summer and winter breaks, participate in railway-focused training programmes with strategic partners, and visit railway project sites.
Phase Two: During their four to five years of university studies, students will be awarded scholarships to pursue a bachelor’s degree in railway engineering. This phase includes continued training at RTA, involvement in leadership forums and key events, and additional field visits.
Phase Three: Upon graduation, students will join the Rail Agency and enter RTA’s Fast Track Programme for Engineers. This two-year programme aims to develop their technical and administrative skills, offer rapid career progression, and provide accredited professional certifications in Project Management and Value Engineering, along with specialised technical training.
On this occasion, His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority of RTA said, "RTA remains steadfast in its mission to cultivate and empower Emirati talent.
